Falls are frequent, particularly in the elderly or for those with balance problems. Even though patients often don't get hurt, falls can have a strong psychological impact and often generate stress, loss of self-confidence, even an apprehension for standing and walking which inevitably leads to a decrease in activity. At the rehabilitation centre in Bobigny a program to teach people how to get up from the floor was developed. The group is run by a physiotherapist and occupational therapist. It aims to practice getting up from the floor but also to reduce anxiety related to falling, to off er a chance for patients to talk about their fears and to understand how to protect themselves in the case of a fall.
