Tendinopathy is a frequent problem in sports people. Nevertheless, clinicians are often confronted with treatment failure and the pathology often becomes chronic. This is a review of the literature based on recent information concerning the physiopathology of tendinopathy and the different physical treatments that exist. Tendinopathy of the achilles and patella tendon are the most frequent and documented tendinopathies of the lower limb. Eccentric exercise seems to be the current treatment for tendinopathy. Its association with other treatments can improve effects and reduce treatment time. At the end of this article we suggest a rehabilitation protocol combining the most interesting different techniques to help the clinician to rationally treat achilles and patella tendinopathy.
