Vascular testing allows one to study the lymph pathways, the collectors of the central lymphatic system and to explore the skin looking for alterations caused by lymphedema. To explore the lymphatic system, we use lympho-fluoroscopy, lymphoscintigraphy, skin ultrasound, CT and PET-scan. Venous doppler completes the vascular explorations. Vascular tests are useful in the case of uncertain diagnosis and when there is resistance to treatment. They are also used to better understand the physiopathology or to evaluate the treatment of lymphedema. Practically, vascular tests are often unuseful in upper limb lymphedema but are often essential for the management of lower limb lymphedema.
