The anatomy of the ligaments of the knee is well known. Their organisation shows the complexity of their mechanical actions. The essential problem is the understanding of the interaction between the femur, the tibia and the patella. The importance of the peripheral formations is often under estimated. Replacement of a ligament in the central pivot is difficult and must be followed by a specific rehabilitation protocol which takes into account the new function of the musculoaponeurotic system.
